I'm in awe

Santorini is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. The views are incredible and I love to sit in awe of the island. Tuesday morning we were planning to get up but because our hotel was so wonderful and we were so comfy we slept in...oops. But even though we overslept we had a wonderful morning. We went and got our favorite greek food yogurt with honey and walnuts and took the bus to Oia. We shopped all afternoon, walked around town, and looked at all the blue churches. The inside of these churches is so beautiful and intricate.

Everyone in Greece asks us if we are related

We had dinner at a really good restaurant that had a beautiful sunset view. I would highly recommend it except for the fact that I cannot remember the name of it. The food was incredible.

After we got back into Fira, we decided we should go out. We told the receptionist at San Gorgios that we wanted to go to a bar or “clubs” as they call them but not anywhere sketchy. He had no idea what sketchy meant “Sketchy, I do not know this word” (in a greek accent of course) but suggested the best clubs for us to go to. We went to Murphy’s first which was more calm and relaxed and then went to The Highlander where we told the bartender we wanted ouzo. We hadn’t tried it yet and figured we should while we were in Greece. He looked at us funny and asked if we were sure. We explained why and gave us half a shot for us to try because he knew we didn’t actually want a drink of it. Ouzo is gross and disgusting. Seriously never try it. It tastes like nasty alcoholic liquorish. We had a beer instead and hung out in the bar. We did find an Alabama license plate, which was really fun in the bar so of course we had to get a picture. After the “clubs” we called it a night and headed to bed.

Wednesday was our first successful day of getting up on time while in Santorini. We got up and walked down to the old port to ride the donkeys. After a long walk down and having to avoid poop and donkeys the whole way, Beth thought it was gross and opted to ride the cable car back up. I was determined to ride the donkeys and loved it! It was really fun and cracked me up to see people that were walking to the port so afraid of them. I rode the donkey from the old port back up the cliffs to the main town.

After the donkeys, we went and got a late breakfast/lunch at a place right off the square that had really good food. We then took the bus from Fira down to Perivolos to the black beach. We sat in the chairs with a cabana boy, which was heavenly.

I love cabana boys.
Dad, you must bring Mom here. She wouldn't know what to do with herself she would be so happy.

After the beach we headed back to town, got ready, and went to dinner. We have had a wonderful stay in Santorini and hope to return in the future! We leave for Rome in the morning!
